Okay, the first leg of my trip down to take my brother to UT Austin for school is completed. After 19+ hours.

I.HATE.CARS.

Now...I'm in the lobby of our hotel in Lake Mary, Florida, and it's 11PM and there.is.no.receptionist.

Notice my frustration. I'm done. We've had torrential downpours, traffic jams, accidents, and about everything else you can imagine to inhibit the trip down here. Our trip was supposed to take 14 hours.

20 hours later, i think mapquest should die for giving me hope that our trip was supposed to be simple.

*le sigh* now I'm seeing my brother 5 hours LATER than I was supposed to and I'm PISSED.

I'll let you know how the rest of the trip goes when I can. But for now? I'm DONE.

Ohmygod.

My roommate is hilarious. So we are sitting here watching Merlin (which is an AWESOME show bytheway ) and when I am up in the kitchen my roommate starts laughing. It is completely out of place laugh and I look at her thinking 'Helen, what the hell...?'

She just continues laughing and finally, she tells me,

"I just saw a black man walk by the window and I couldn't see him (cause it's at night and he's black *shakes head at the inadvertent racism*) and he was wearing a white shirt and I thought

Who's that ghost walking?"

needless to say that I am going to be giggling about that for a while. Helen cracks me up sometimes (okay...a lot of the time) and I love her. >_<

We watch way too much Supernatural and Ghost Hunters for our own good.

Add that to the fact that we're pretty sure that our dorm is haunted and, well...

Oh holy shit. Ohmygod. Okay, so I just finished watching the newest Supernatural episode and all I can say is...

What.The.Fuck.

Ohmy god...2 fucking months and what do they give us? A crazy, psychotic, incestual family that is taken straight from the 'Home' episode of the X-Files. Goddamn you Eric Kripke! Although, I have to say, the beginning scenes with Sam and Dean was tearing at my heart strings. And the Last thing that Dean said? The fact that he enjoyed the tearing apart of soul\s down in Hell? The fact that he derived pleasure from it? He became his worst nightmare.

He started to become a demon.
I honestly don't know what to think about that other than the fact that Sam is a dumbass who doesn't hug his brother nearly enough for us fangirls...

I'm getting really frustrated. 

I've been hardcore into the Harry Potter fandom for many years now, so naturally I've read a crap-load of fanfictions.

They're all the same.

It seems to me that the same plots are getting used over and over again with no remission in sight. It's to the point where if I read a summary that even mentions creature! Draco I'm going to pass it up. Especially if he's a Veela. They're all the same. Draco finds out that he is a Veela. Either he goes emo because he's not a pureblood anymore or he's an extra-special pureblood because he has creature blood in him. Then, shocker of all shockers...Harry is his mate. 

Add in some cliched reactions from friends, family and the general public (including an explosive Ron scene) and you've ot yourself a story!

Now, I've read quite a few excellent Veela Draco  fics, so I'm not dissing that completely. 

But I read them YEARS ago.

Come up with your own twist for Merlin's sake! Don't stick to the same plotline as 50 other authors and authoresses because you think it'll get you reviews. 

News Flash: People won't keep reviewing the same story line.

It's utterly repetitive and if you want to be a review-whore then come up with something that isn't seen very much and put your own twist on it. Be adventurous. The whole point of writing fanfiction is to go off the canon storyline.

It's almost seems as if within the HP fandom we've created our own canon and we have to dig ourselves out of the rut once again. 

There seem to be some very typical story lines that pop up wherever you go:

- Draco is a Veela and Harry is his reluctant mate

- Someone takes/makes a potion by mistake (or a spell) and is turned into a baby. And Dumbledore is seemingly wise to the undertones of a hateful relationship and puts the helpless infant into the hands of his enemy. 

- Harry is abused and/or tries to kill himself and/or is raped brutally by Vernon or Dudley. 

- Interhouse Unity is taken to extreme measures and Rivals are paired together.

- Severus is forced to tutor Harry.

Okay...those are only a few, but how many of you can honestly say you haven't read multiple attempts at these. I've even dabbled my hand in them, but I realized there were probably other people like me who were sick of seeing the same summary:

When A happens and B and C are put into D situation...WHAT WILL HAPPEN?

I mean...honestly....when the genre is romance and the two characters are put into a "seeminlgy" horrible situation..chances are they're going to have sex in one form or another by the end of the fic.

Everyone loves a good angst-bomb in the form of Harry going all badass and what not (I mean I LOVED it when Edmund effing Pevensie turned up all hot and badass in Prince Caspian, but I degress) but make an attempt to draw people into your story without all the hubub of cliched characters. Work outside of the box. 

Use your imagination.

Anyway....had to get this off of my chest. I was just scanning HP fics on FF.net and got pissed.

You know those cliché moments where you realize that it’s too late? That you let an opportunity pass you by? Yeah, I definitely just had one of those. It’s one of those moments where you realize that your own doubts and insecurities that either:

a) You didn’t realize you had or

b) You ignored for the sake of not admitting they existed, decide come back to bite you in the ass.

Not only did I just now realize that my insecurities were overpowering me, but that my self righteousness and/or stubbornness were controlling most of my actions in the situation. Now, it’s too late.

 

Fuck.

 

See here’s the thing…a guy showed an interest in me, but I let something that I now see as insignificant get in my way:

 

He wasn’t my type.

 

Now, I drove him away enough that he decided I wasn’t worth it and is now dating someone else who isn’t such a fucking bitch. I had thought, quite a few times actually, about just taking the plunge and going out with him…but yet again, stupid Kelley had to go and screw it up.

            The clincher? I thought that I was doing him a favor in not accepting his advances because I thought I would be using him if I wasn’t 100% sure in my feelings for him. I mean, he’s an amazingly sweet guy, and I didn’t want to go out with him if I wasn’t sure, but now I realize:

 

Who the hell is ever sure about their feelings? The whole point of a relationship is to help your feelings grow and now I’ve gone and smothered them like a chicken.

 

Now, I get to go and spend the summer where he is 20 minutes away. Now, I get to see my idiocy thrown in my face on a regular basis. And you know what?

 

It fucking hurts
